Our Philosophy

The philosophy of the Heritage Learning Center is based on the belief that each child is a precious individual gifted with certain unique capacities and talents.

A warm, loving environment, combined with a well-trained and creative staff, stimulates a child's physical, social, emotional and intellectual development by learning through play and fun.

Our Mission

The mission of Heritage Learning Center (HLC) is to provide quality care and specialized services, serving children with individual needs in a safe, fun, healthy, and nurturing environment. Children grow and learn best in a safe environment that provides opportunities to explore, create and communicate with other children and adults.

The program is designed to be inclusive of all children, including those with identified disabilities and special learning and developmental needs. We accept children with individualized learning behavioral needs as well as physical disabilities for full time services and child care: Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Therapy.

Maryland EXCELS Quality Rating

Heritage Learning Center has maintained and improved our quality of care by participating in the Maryland EXCELS system. Our quality rating is currently at a Rating Scale of 4. In addition, HLC has earned an Achievement Badge of Quality Business Practice.

Credentialed Staff

HLC participates in the Maryland Child Care Credential Program provided by the MSDE, Office of Child Care. Our staff are all involved and range their levels from Level 1 through Level 6, surpassing the State's minimum training requirement.

Dedicated leaders guiding our learning community

Dannerys A. Gomez V.

Director of HLC

Ms. Dannerys A. Gomez V. (Ms. Angie) has been with HLC since January 2015. Not only has Ms. Angie dedicated her love and encouragement to children and staff in HLC, but all 3 of her children have attended HLC also! Ms. Angie is a creative, enthusiastic, and savvy director while also taking opportunities to teach children in the center. Ms. Angie holds a CDA in Early Childhood Preschool while completing education courses in Infant & Toddler development and curriculum. Currently, she is obtaining a degree in Early Childhood Development.

Marielos Ardon Alvarado

Assistant Director of HLC

Ms. Marielos Ardon Alvarado has been with HLC since 2017. She holds certifications in preschool and school-age education which reflects a strong commitment to child development not only in HLC but also for school-aged children. Ms. Marielos was previously the teacher of the Busy Bees classroom and she excelled in that role. Her classroom was a nurturing and engaging environment where children felt safe to express themselves and explore their interests. After becoming the assistant director in 2024, she has started to share her knowledge and experience with the teaching staff.
